How to Play All Bets Blackjack
You place your bets before the dealer starts dealing the cards, and the main objective of Blackjack is to beat the dealer without exceeding 21. This means that you must guess the outcome of the round without having seen a single card, and also that each card has its value. Cards 2 to 10 have their face value, the Ace is either a 1 or 11 (depending on the players’ own choice), and the Jack, Queen, and King all have the value 10.
Both the dealer and the player are dealt 2 cards, the dealer with 1 card facing downwards so as to not reveal its value. The player adds up the values of both cards, and if the total value is far from 21 you can “Hit” and take an additional card until you are satisfied. Once the player is satisfied he “Stays”, and the dealer's second card is turned and the value is revealed - now we know who the winner is.
If you have a higher value than the dealer, and not exceeding 21, then you have won. If the combination of cards is bigger than 21 then you have lost by going “bust”.
Once the first 2 cards have been dealt, there are a number of actions you can take. If you have been dealt any pair, say two Jacks, you can split the cards into 2 hands (for an additional cost of your initial bet) and receive 1 additional card to each hand. This process can be repeated as long as you are dealt any pairs, and the player could then be playing with several hands during the game round. There are also “double downs” and “safety bets” to name a few options.
This is the shorthand of the game, and you can read more about Blackjack on our Blackjack page.
